the story so far

P1020680Nobody knew exactly what was in store for me when I set out on January 13th for Thailand, least of all me. No-one could ever have predicted that after just two months I’d be on my way back home to recover from two separate bouts of surgery, courtesy of four weeks in hospital and my newly-evicted appendix. And, I dare say, there are even fewer who would have presumed I’d want to go back just a short while after recovering from my ordeal.

In a nutshell, that’s where I am at this point. Been there, done that, got over it and ready to continue! For more details on where I went and what I did there, you’ll find it all on this site. Scroll through the older entries and you’ll read about the food, the sun, the beach. The peaceful elephant rides and the frightening tuk-tuk journeys. The spontaneous, low-key blues jams and the monstrosities of Thailand’s biggest beach rave. The crazy music and the ridiculous animal sounds. The smog-ridden cities and the picture-perfect tropical islands. The bedlam of Chinatown and the utter tranquility of Lonely Beach. And of course, I could go on.

So yeah, I had a little bad luck, and more than my fair share of misfortune. But I’m here to tell the tale. (Besides, it’s not every day you get to ride to hospital on the back of a speedboat!) And having experienced all of the above, plus a lot more besides, in little over three weeks of real travel, it’s not so hard to understand why I’m going back.

Let the adventure continue! :-)
